So, take your time, look around, and learn all there is to know about my life as a Scottish artist & designer.
I really hope you enjoy this site and take a moment to drop me a message to say hello, and I can hopefully answer any questions you may have.
When I was in school, my favorite lessons were Art & Needlework (as it was called back in the day)
As I got older, this love never faded and eventually in my 40’s I returned to the thing I loved doing which was creating textile designs in the form of Tweed bags & soft furnishings and then I continued my love of art shortly after that.
Then in 2010 I started Anny Rideout Designs
I use many different mediums, such as acrylics, oils, watercolour & ink and mixed media . I find working in a variety of mediums helps with my artistic process, and they each have an individual style but mostly with a contemporary Scottish edge.
My canvas can be anything from new and recycled canvas, recycled timber, wooden barn doors and lampshade, if I like it I’ll try painting on it.
I enjoy walking in my spare time and many of my designs are directly influenced by these walks in nature throughout the Highlands of Scotland that I am lucky to call my home. I love the earthy colours of the rugged landscape and the vibrancy of the coastline, I am also inspired by the Scottish wildlife which is reflected in my artwork.
My bag & soft furnishing designs are all contemporary with a Scottish twist, but all inspired by the colours in the landscapes of the Highlands of Scotland.
I have always had a love of Tweed and vintage fabrics, you will see this reflected in my designs.
As part of our ethos myself and my husband also work with recycled items that would normally end up in landfill, from wood, canvas, fabric, both vintage and modern, and driftwood found on the many beaches we have travelled to throughout Scotland.
All repurposed to make something to re use both wearable or pride of place within your home. I love working with pre loved items, to give them another lease of life.
